OVERVIEW

The Mechanic II is responsible for the maintenance of all agency vehicles and contractual maintenance of vehicles. Operations of the maintenance function will be provided in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner. Vehicles must be maintained with safety, comfort and professional appearance as top priorities. Responsible for completing Virginia Vehicle Inspections on agency fleet.

 

Provide road service and emergency assistance, responding to accidents as needed, in a timely manner and in an on-call (24/7) rotational capacity. Cleaning duties include cleaning of vehicles exterior and interior (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing, etc.) as well as cleaning and maintenance of the Transportation Facility garage/wash bay area. Responsible for cleaning bodily fluid spills appropriately using approved cleanup procedures and blood borne pathogens kits.

 

Position is forty (40) hours per week with excellent benefits. Must provide own general tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a high school and/or vocational school diploma and minimum of four (4) years’ experience in vehicle maintenance. Experience in heavy vehicle maintenance preferred. Applicant must be self-driven and have a strong ability to work independently. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s license (or ability to obtain upon hire, Class B with Air Brakes and Passenger endorsements) required. Must have knowledge and certification of Virginia vehicle inspection requirements.

 

Successful candidates must comply with all FTA Drug and Alcohol Testing guidelines.
