Responsible for the general operations of the Transportation Office in coordination with the Transit Operations Supervisors. Assists supervisors in operator training and operational compliance activities including oversight of active bus routes and services. Opens/Closes transit operations ensuring that drivers report on time and according to requirements. Responds to customer inquiries regarding system operations assisting with trip planning and other related duties.
Serves as supervisor on duty of transit operations at times when the supervisory staff are otherwise unavailable. Performs detailed operational duties to include scheduling drivers, establishing route services, performing data collection and a variety of other duties within a dynamic and high energy operation.
Nights and weekends are required and a part of the primary schedule for this position.
Qualified applicants will have any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, and considerable experience in transit dispatching and/or vehicle operations. Excellent computer skills and knowledge in standard office products with very effective organization and document design skills. Ability to maintain effective working relationships in a leadership role with others required.
Ability to maintain positive effective working relationships with others required. Excellent personal and team organization skills required. Excellent customer relations skills required. Possession of a valid Virginia Driver’s license and acceptable driving record required. Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver License (Class B with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements). On the job training provided.
