Part-time Van / Transit Bus Operator position to assist passengers to and from various destinations in the Radford, Fairlawn, New River Valley, and surrounding areas. Duties include performing vehicle pre-trip inspections, record keeping, and providing safe and courteous service at all times. Hours vary Sunday through Saturday and are flexible to various types of schedule needs.

Evening and weekend hours are expected.

High school diploma or equivalent with considerable experience in operating vans and bus type vehicles. Must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. Experience handling wheelchairs and assisting the physically challenged is a plus. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others required.

Successful candidates must comply with all FTA Drug and Alcohol testing guidelines.

Community Transit Specific – Must be able to obtain (or currently hold) a “Class C” Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement within the first 60 days of employment. (On the job training and testing provided)

Radford Transit Specific – Applicants must be 19 years of age or older. Must be able to obtain (or currently hold) a “Class B” Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake and Passenger Endorsements within the first 60 days of employment. (On the job training and testing provided)
