  • Overview

    The Training and Compliance Specialist is responsible for delivering all training and vehicle orientation to employees for the operation of NRVCS, Community Transit, and Radford Transit vehicles.  This individual is responsible for ensuring compliance with vehicle operation according to agency policy.  This position also provides support to the Transportation Services operations through compliance reviews and road based observations, reporting performance issues back to the Transportation Operations Supervisor or Transportation Service Lead.

    Responsibilities

    Responsible for scheduling and presentation of instructor-led training courses including but not limited to: Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance Service and Safety, Wheelchair Securement, etc.  Responsible for monitoring and tracking of training records to ensure compliance with necessary trainings, conducting follow up trainings as needed to comply with safety standards and other related duties within a dynamic and high energy operation. Working hours will vary dependent upon demand and type of trainings required.

    Qualifications

    Qualified applicants will have any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university and considerable experience in training, safety & compliance, and vehicle operations as it pertains to a passenger carrying vehicle. Excellent computer skills and knowledge in standard office products with very effective organization and document design skills is necessary. Ability to maintain effective working relationships in a leadership role with others required.  Ability to work independently and strong self-motivation is a necessity.

     

    Possession of a valid Virginia Commercial Driver License (Minimum Class B with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements) and an acceptable driving record required.
    If not a current CDL holder, ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment is required, training provided
